Update: I received $100 off my bill for the inconvenience.
The rooms are spacious and tastefully furnished. The views are spectacular. The guest services leaves much to be desired. In February we reserved a specific room for the following October and paid a deposit. When we arrived we discovered we had been moved. There was no discussion or question if we wanted a different room, we were simply informed at check in that we had been moved. This cast a pall over the rest of my vacation. I would recommend this place only if you don't care which room you get and if you can overlook an incompetent staff at the front desk.
Neither of us can sleep. I want a refund...
We stayed 3 nights in a room right above the main lobby. We really enjoyed the experience overall and appreciated the clean rooms, helpful employees, and complementary breakfast. The subterranean parking garage was also a huge plus, especially in December. We never had issues with noise, but found the bed to be slightly uncomfortable (possibly just too firm for our tastes). The hotel is located away from the "touristy" area of Canal Park, which we ended up preferring, but has easy access to I35. Overall, we rather enjoyed our experience and would recommend it to others.
When you check in to this hotel... Everyone signs a noise waiver to obey that quiet hours start at around 10pm on the property...
Night 3) No thank you... Never again...
The view is absolutely amazing! We could wake up to the water crashing on the shoreline. You have a great view of the loft bridge. A few links during our stay were the AC was difficult to figure out, the bedrooms don't have windows, and breakfast was underwhelming. Overall would recommend, but not the best choice we've experienced in the Duluth area. Staff was very nice and helpful.
What it does have is an amazing view of Lake Superior. That is five stars yet I am overpaying for the view.
Night 2) couple next door has been having obnoxiously loud sex since we got home at 11pm... It is now 2:35am and I have called the front desk 4 times now.
Overpriced for what you get. Made reservation late for UMD family weekend so was one of few places left and they knew it. Have the one bedroom suite. No windows in bedroom yet a noisy air conditioner I would expect to find in a cheap hotel. Lots of little no attention to details - nicks in furniture, needs painting updates, screen door isn’t same width of door. Jacuzzi is loud so if in bedroom no sleep - walls paper thin. Tub/shower is one and no grab bar so if you aren’t tall hard to get in and out of. Parking horrid.
Night 1) People were smoking outside and being extremely loud until around 3 or 4am but we figured maybe we could just sleep through it.
